ZICLA

New music for zither and clarinet

Zicla is a project by Siedl/Cao with electro-acoustic compositions and composed improvisations for prepared zither, clarinet and electronics. Clarinet and zither are commonly known for playing Austrian folk music. Using these two instruments in a new syntax evokes a familiar and at the same time foreign environment that draws the listener into a world of sonic exploration.

The clarinet´s specific pitch structures interweave with sounds from the zither extended by self built motors and new playing techniques, creating an unusual imaginary space, introspective moods, abstract microtonal dialogues and intriguing sound textures.
